AH&M Cricket Club Crowned Champions of Maiden SPL Red Tennis Ball Tournament

AH&M Cricket Club emerged champions of the maiden SPL Red Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament after securing a commanding 98-run victory over Golden Eagles in the final played on Sunday at the Kingtom Police Oval in Freetown.

AH&M delivered a dominant all-round performance, posting an impressive total of 149 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 12 overs. In reply, Golden Eagles struggled to withstand the pressure from the bowling attack and were bowled out for just 51 runs in 8.3 overs, handing AH&M a comprehensive triumph.

The four-week tournament featured eight teams and was organised by members of the Asian community with support from Cricket Sierra Leone.

According to organisers, the competition was designed to bring members of the community together, promote sportsmanship, and provide players with an opportunity to showcase their cricketing talent.

They described the event as more than just a sporting competition, noting that it also served as a platform to strengthen unity and foster stronger relationships within the community.

Organisers further disclosed plans to expand future editions of the tournament by introducing new formats, increasing team participation, and raising the overall standard of the game.

The successful conclusion of the inaugural competition reflects the growing popularity of cricket in Sierra Leone and highlights the role of community-driven initiatives in supporting the development of the sport nationwide.
