The Opposition Chief Whip, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara (AKK), has issued a statement advising journalists against contacting him for interviews concerning the ongoing public debate regarding the proposed sale of military barracks in Sierra Leone.
In a social media post, AKK explicitly stated, "Warning to all journalists: please don’t call me for interviews on issues around the sale of the military barracks. Ar nor want soja case [I do not want a soldier case]."
This advisory from the Chief Whip comes amidst heightened public scrutiny and significant political discussion surrounding the potential sale or redevelopment of key military facilities, including Juba Barracks and the proposed Masiaka military housing project. His statement indicates a deliberate strategy to avoid entanglement in the potential controversy surrounding the issue.
AKK's message underscores the political sensitivity inherent in the barracks sale and reflects the caution officials are exercising when addressing current military infrastructure and real estate projects.
