APC Flagbearer Aspirant Urges Government to Curb Imports Linked to Kush Crisis

Sorie Sulaiman Sesay, an aspiring flagbearer for the All People's Congress (APC), has publicly urged the government to prioritize disrupting the supply chain contributing to the escalating kush crisis in Sierra Leone. During a recent appearance on AYV’s Wake Up Sierra Leone programme, Sesay underscored that a pivotal strategy for tackling the kush epidemic involves halting the importation of precursor materials used in the drug's production.

Sesay acknowledged that the response to kush requires a concerted national effort, extending beyond government bodies. Nevertheless, he stressed the paramount responsibility of the government in disrupting the flow of components that make the drug widely available.

His statements are particularly timely as the nation grapples with the pervasive societal impact of kush, especially on the youth demographic. While initiatives such as public awareness campaigns and increased security measures are underway, Sesay posited that limiting access to the raw materials essential for the drug's manufacture could significantly impede its proliferation.

He further argued that preventing the entry of these materials is crucial for safeguarding lives and protecting Sierra Leone's future leadership. Sesay concluded by advocating for enhanced national cooperation to effectively manage this critical issue.

In summary, Sesay calls for decisive government action to prohibit the importation of kush production materials, viewing this measure as fundamental to protecting the younger generation and securing a prosperous future for Sierra Leone.
