Member of Parliament Abdul Karim Kamara, popularly known as AKK, has accused President Julius Maada Bio’s administration of failing to prioritize the welfare of Sierra Leone’s security forces despite persistent economic challenges in the country.
Hon. Kamara, an opposition lawmaker representing the All People’s Congress (APC), said the government has neglected the basic needs of the Sierra Leone Police and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces. He noted that many officers continue to earn less than sixty dollars per month, an amount he described as unacceptable given the current cost of living.
He criticized what he called the government’s “disconnect from the realities ordinary citizens face,” pointing to rising food prices, transportation costs, and inflation as evidence that economic progress claimed by the administration has not translated into relief for public workers.
The APC MP also accused the ruling administration of overlooking its moral and constitutional duty to ensure fair wages and better living conditions for those who risk their lives in the line of duty.
His comments have sparked debate among citizens, with many taking to social media to echo concerns over the growing hardship faced by public servants and to call for an immediate review of salaries across all government sectors.
