The Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC), Lansana Dumbuya, has called on the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) to caution Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh over what he described as repeated “frivolous and baseless” claims against the opposition party.
Dumbuya said the Chief Minister’s recent public statements accusing APC figures of influencing decisions during the tripartite engagement were irresponsible and aimed at discrediting the party and its leadership. He warned that continued attacks could force the APC to respond.
“The Chief Minister is making all kinds of frivolous claims against the APC,” Dumbuya said. “We are calling on the PPRC to advise him to desist from making such unfounded statements. If he refuses, we will have no option but to respond accordingly.”
According to Dumbuya, the PPRC has a statutory responsibility to regulate political parties and promote peaceful political engagement, adding that intervention is necessary when public statements threaten political harmony.
In a related development, the APC Secretary General also addressed concerns surrounding the ongoing distribution of APC membership cards. He dismissed allegations of irregularities, assuring party supporters that the exercise is being conducted transparently and in line with party regulations.
“We want to assure our members that the distribution of membership cards is transparent and credible. There is no hidden agenda, and every genuine member will be registered,” he said.
Dumbuya further urged APC supporters across the country to participate fully in the upcoming national census, describing it as vital for effective national planning and development.
He concluded by calling on party members to remain calm, united, and law-abiding, while reaffirming the APC’s commitment to democratic principles and constructive political engagement.
