Chief Minister Urges Shift From Politics to National Development

Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has called for a shift away from political tensions toward peace, dialogue, and national development following the recent visit of International Moral Guarantors to Sierra Leone.

In a statement issued after the delegation concluded its mission, Dr. Sengeh said the team held engagements with President Julius Maada Bio, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, political parties, civil society organisations, and the media as part of efforts under the Agreement for National Unity framework.

He stressed that sustainable development is anchored on a stable environment built on dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among national stakeholders.

Dr. Sengeh noted that he closely followed the engagements and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive participation throughout the reform process and beyond.

“This is my commitment during this process and beyond,” he stated.

The Chief Minister further disclosed that his office remains accessible to all political actors, including the All Peoples Congress (APC), in support of continued national dialogue.

“My office and phone lines remain open to the APC and all political parties,” he added.

He also acknowledged the leadership of President Bio and the role played by Vice President Jalloh in advancing the mediation process, which has contributed to renewed political engagement.

Dr. Sengeh welcomed the outcome of the Moral Guarantors’ mission, noting that differences among political stakeholders should be addressed through constructive dialogue in the national interest.

He further referenced the communiqué issued by ECOWAS, UNOWAS, and the Commonwealth joint assessment mission, underscoring the importance of sustained cooperation among stakeholders.

Concluding his statement, Dr. Sengeh urged both political leaders and citizens to prioritise national development over division.

“Let’s forget politics a bit and focus on development. Together we will deliver,” he said.
