Cool J Breaks Silence on Viral Altercation

The management of Sierra Leonean entertainer Salone Cool J has issued a statement addressing a recent altercation involving the artist, stating that he acted in self-defense and did not initiate the incident.

In a statement released on 22 June 2026, the Black Conscious Movement said Salone Cool J’s actions were a response to being physically approached and attacked during an unexpected confrontation.

“While emotions escalated during an unexpected confrontation, Salone Cool J’s actions were taken in response to being physically approached and attacked,” the statement said.

The organization maintained that the artist defended himself in the moment and rejected claims that he initiated the altercation.

It emphasized that violence, bullying, intimidation, and conflict do not reflect Salone Cool J’s values as an artist, humanitarian, and community figure, noting his long-standing involvement in music, mentorship, and youth empowerment initiatives.

The statement also stressed that individuals have the right to protect themselves when faced with a physical threat.

The release follows a widely circulated video on social media appearing to show a confrontation during a recent performance, reportedly involving fellow entertainer Nino Brown. The incident has sparked public debate, with differing accounts emerging.

The Black Conscious Movement reiterated that Salone Cool J did not start the confrontation, but provided no further details about the incident or whether the artist sustained any injuries.

It added that it hopes the incident will not overshadow his years of community work and contributions to youth empowerment through music and advocacy.

The statement thanked fans and supporters for their continued encouragement as the artist moves forward.
