Cyber Officer Testifies in Alleged $37,100 Medical Device Theft Case

A key prosecution witness provided detailed testimony in the ongoing trial involving the alleged theft of a Vivid IQ Echo Machine, a medical device valued at $37,100. Detective Constable Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, a Cyber Systems Analyst with the CID’s Scientific Support Unit, took the stand to outline the digital evidence linking the suspects to the crime.

Kamara testified that the investigation began on February 2, 2026, when his department received a request to analyze subscriber details, call histories, and IMEI traces for several phone numbers associated with the suspects. The analysis successfully identified four Africell SIM cards, leading investigators to Moyamba District.

During the operation in Moyamba, Kamara and his team arrested individuals connected to the primary suspects and recovered a mobile device. He further detailed an undercover operation that led to the interception of Princess Gassema, who is allegedly linked to the first accused.

Forensic examinations of the suspects' phones later revealed photographs of the stolen medical equipment and digital links to the second accused, Joseph Bellon.

The digital trail presented by the Cyber Laboratory has established a critical connection between the accused and the missing equipment. The trial is scheduled to resume on July 20, 2026, for further proceedings.
