President Donald J. Trump has formally submitted the nomination of career diplomat Daniel Travis to the United States Senate to serve as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Sierra Leone.

This nomination is intended to address the diplomatic vacancy resulting from the conclusion of Ambassador Bryan David Hunt’s tenure.

Until such time as a permanent envoy is confirmed and assumes office, the United States Mission in Freetown remains under the capable interim leadership of Chargé d’Affaires Jared Yancey.

The Embassy has issued a formal assurance that all diplomatic engagements and consular functions shall proceed without interruption.

The nomination currently remains pending before the U.S. Senate for parliamentary confirmation.
