The Deputy Speaker of Parliament and National Coordinator of the Ebema Gbi SLPP, Honorable Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, has formally expressed his confidence in First Lady Fatima Maada Bio's potential to serve as Sierra Leone’s inaugural female President.

During an appearance on Slik TV, Hon. Conteh underscored that the First Lady's marital status does not preclude her from exercising her political rights or aspiring to national leadership.

Hon. Conteh emphasized that political participation and leadership should be predicated upon personal capacity, principled governance, and a demonstrated commitment to the nation, rather than merely institutional advantages.

He highlighted that the Ebema Movement, a structured political entity within the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) with extensive influence, recognizes the First Lady as a pivotal figure within its leadership hierarchy.

Characterizing her as a significant political figure, the Deputy Speaker asserted that Her Excellency possesses the credentials necessary to influence leadership dynamics within the party.

He further advocated for a bipartisan shift in political culture, calling upon women to prioritize female representation over party affiliations and urging male counterparts to facilitate a more inclusive environment for women in leadership.

These statements have initiated a broader national discourse regarding gender parity and the future of political leadership in Sierra Leone.
