Ex-President Koroma Describes Late Chairman Minkailu as Loyal APC Stalwart in Tribute Message

Former President of Sierra Leone Ernest Bai Koroma has described the late Honourable Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray as a loyal and dedicated stalwart of the All People’s Congress (APC), praising his long-standing service to the party and the nation.

In a condolence message issued from his office in Abuja, Nigeria, on 20 June 2026, Koroma expressed deep sorrow over Mansaray’s passing, noting his decades of involvement in both party leadership and public service.

“It is with sadness that I learnt of the passing of Honourable Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray,” Koroma wrote.

He said the late Mansaray devoted many years to the APC, rising through the ranks from the party’s Youth League to eventually serve as National Chairman.

Koroma also highlighted Mansaray’s contributions to national governance, stating that he served in various capacities and distinguished himself in both party politics and government service.

According to the former President, Mansaray played a significant role in his own political journey, recalling that he was among those who first supported and encouraged him to pursue leadership within the APC.

“He was not only among the first to identify and encourage me to lead, but he was also steadfast and loyal, particularly during the most critical and difficult moments of the struggle for party leadership,” he stated.

Koroma added that Mansaray remained a committed ally throughout his tenure, describing him as a dependable figure during challenging political periods.

He said Mansaray’s death is a major loss not only to his family but also to the APC, his close associates, and all who benefited from his leadership.

“To his beloved wife, children, other family members, the APC, friends, and all those grieving this immense loss, I extend my deepest condolences,” he wrote.

The former President prayed for Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he concluded.
