The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has officially lifted the long-standing financial restrictions imposed upon the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).
This confirmation was provided by the SLFA Acting Secretary General, Mohamed Benson Bawoh, who announced that all financial sanctions previously placed on the Sierra Leone Football Association were removed by FIFA effective Monday, 19 January 2026.
This decision signifies a major breakthrough for football governance in Sierra Leone, granting the SLFA full access to its financial operations and international football development resources. The termination of the ban is anticipated to yield substantial positive effects on domestic competitions, national team readiness, and long-term football development initiatives throughout the nation.
