Fire at Kenema School Dormitory; No Fatalities, Investigation Ongoing

The Sierra Leone Police reported that a fire outbreak occurred at the boarding dormitory of Nyapui Senior Secondary School of Excellence in Comber Village on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026, at approximately 20:15 hours.

It was stated that the National Fire Force and the Sierra Leone Police Force, Kenema Division, swiftly intervened, successfully bringing the fire under control.

The police confirmed that there were no fatalities and that other buildings within the school compound were unaffected.

It was noted that a few individuals sustained minor injuries and were receiving treatment at the Kenema Government Hospital.

The police assured the public that the situation was calm and under control, with a police presence maintained on the school compound to ensure safety and prevent further incidents.

The cause of the fire has yet to be established, and investigations are reportedly ongoing.

The Sierra Leone Police advised that the public would be duly informed as more details emerged, and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property.
