First Lady Bio Endorses Aki-Sawyerr's APC Flagbearer Bid

Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Madam Fatima Maada Bio, has publicly extended her support to Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr following the latter's declaration of interest in the All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer position for the 2028 general elections.

The endorsement was conveyed through a public comment by the First Lady on Mayor Aki-Sawyerr’s announcement post. Dr. Bio congratulated the Mayor, characterizing her decision to seek the APC presidential ticket as both "courageous and inspiring."

"Congratulations to you Madam Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, your decision to declare for the flag-bearer/presidency is a courageous and inspiring step," Madam. Bio wrote.

She added that the move "reflects your belief in inclusive leadership" and is "opening doors for women and girls everywhere." The First Lady concluded her message with, “With pride and solidarity,” emphasizing her commitment to women’s political participation.
