The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Bio, has held a high-level engagement with members of the Sierra Leonean diaspora in the United States, emphasizing the important role citizens living abroad play in supporting national development.
During her recent visit, the First Lady was hosted by the North American Region of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, led by its New York Chapter. The engagement brought together members of the Sierra Leonean community for discussions focused on unity, progress, and the shared vision of building a stronger nation.
Addressing the gathering, Fatima Bio stressed that geographical distance does not weaken the commitment of Sierra Leoneans living abroad to their homeland. She commended the diaspora for their continued contributions and support toward national growth.
The First Lady also expressed appreciation for what she described as the diaspora’s unwavering support for the administration of President Julius Maada Bio.
“Our diaspora community continues to demonstrate that distance does not diminish dedication,” she said. “Together, we remain united in our shared vision for a stronger Sierra Leone.”
The engagement provided an opportunity for dialogue between the First Lady and members of the diaspora community, highlighting the importance of collaboration between Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad in advancing the country’s development agenda.
