The Government of Sierra Leone has announced a revision of national fuel prices following a comprehensive assessment of the global petroleum market. Effective immediately, the pump price for petrol is maintained at NLe32 per litre, while the price for diesel has been adjusted to NLe35 per litre.
This measure was communicated by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education following strategic consultations with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). The adjustment is a response to heightened volatility in international oil markets, exacerbated by geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region and logistical disruptions across critical shipping corridors, such as the Strait of Hormuz, which have impacted global supply chains and procurement costs.
In a commitment to domestic price stability, Oil Marketing Companies have agreed to fix these rates for a minimum duration of two weeks, providing a buffer against further international market fluctuations. The Ministry remains dedicated to monitoring global trends and ensuring transparent communication with the public regarding any future developments.
