Footballer Mohamed Kamara Faces High Court Trial for Drug-Related Charges

Footballer Mohamed Kamara is slated to appear before the High Court after being charged with five counts related to the illegal possession and dealing of prohibited drugs.

The charges, brought under the National Drug Control Act 2008, allege that Kamara unlawfully collected, transported, exposed, dealt in, and possessed a prohibited drug on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Lumley Police checkpoint in Freetown.

Kamara made his final appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2.

He did not enter a plea, and was not legally represented at the hearing. The state prosecutor closed his case, prompting Magistrate Fornah to rule that sufficient prima facie evidence had been presented to link Kamara to the alleged offenses.

Consequently, Magistrate Fornah ordered Kamara to be committed to stand trial in the High Court, where he remains in custody.

The case has raised concerns regarding drug-related offenses among public figures.
