Former Ward Coordinator and Pastor Remanded Over Alleged Concealment of Treason

A former ward coordinator and a pastor have been arraigned at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on charges of misprision of treason, raising serious concerns about the concealment of criminal activity at the community level.

Mohamed Sanu, 59, and Pastor Kelly Marrah, 53, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah to face allegations of unlawfully concealing treason committed by Daniel Keleh Mansaray, also known as Ceaser, and others unknown, between November 26, 2023, and July 26, 2025, in Freetown.

The prosecution claims that the accused, aware that treason had been committed, failed to report the offense, thereby violating Sierra Leonean law.

During proceedings, the charges were read and explained to both defendants, but no plea was entered. State Counsel Yusuf Isaac Sesay, Esq., indicated plans to submit the consent of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice and requested a short adjournment.

Magistrate Jah denied bail and remanded Sanu and Marrah to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to September 29, 2025, for further hearing.
