Health Ministry Tests Hospital Equipment, Explores Training Opportunities in India

Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health is undertaking a five-day official visit to Chandigarh, India, to test hospital equipment, explore biomedical engineering training opportunities and strengthen systems for the supply, maintenance and servicing of medical equipment.
The delegation, led by Director of Hospital and Ambulance Services Ibrahim Foday-Musa, visited Allengers Medical Systems Limited to conduct a factory acceptance test and discuss equipment supply, technical support, maintenance, spare parts and lifecycle management.
The delegation includes Biomedical Engineering Consultant Dr Dinsie Williams, National Medical Supplies Agency Managing Director Jatu Josephine Abdulai, NMSA Director of Procurement Thomas Bernard Aruna and Siv Akumar Jay Arjan of JSS Medical Distributors (SL), which facilitated the engagement.
During the visit, the delegation inspected medical equipment and reviewed manufacturing and quality-control processes while engaging Allengers’ technical team on equipment operation, servicing and maintenance. Discussions also focused on training opportunities to strengthen local biomedical engineering capacity and reduce equipment downtime in Sierra Leone.
Allengers Medical Systems Limited, based in Chandigarh, manufactures and exports diagnostic and imaging equipment, including X-ray and digital radiography systems, C-Arms, Cath Labs and digital mammography systems, and provides technical training through practical, tutorial and online programmes.
The Ministry said the visit forms part of its efforts to ensure that investments in hospital infrastructure are supported by functional equipment, technical expertise, maintenance systems and sustainable biomedical support.
