Chernor Bah Brings Entertainment Stakeholders on Board for 2026 Civic Festival

The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has called for stronger collaboration with Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry as preparations intensify for the 2026 Civic Festival, scheduled for 9–11 December.
The call was made during a meeting with key stakeholders and leaders of the entertainment industry at his office on 2 November 2026, where the Minister presented the Ministry’s proposed plans and framework for this year’s festival.
Welcoming the stakeholders, Minister Bah acknowledged the industry’s contributions to Sierra Leone’s entertainment landscape and expressed appreciation for their willingness to support the national event.
To ensure the industry’s active involvement, the Minister announced plans for a dedicated town hall meeting on the second day of the festival. The engagement will provide a platform for industry players to discuss the state of the sector, examine existing challenges and explore opportunities for growth.
He also urged the Entertainment Ambassador and Peace Ambassador to take the lead in coordinating the industry’s participation and work closely with the Ministry to ensure the successful organisation of the engagement.
The three-day festival will commence on 9 December with an official opening ceremony to be attended by President Julius Maada Bio, who is also expected to tour exhibition booths organised by various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The second day will feature town hall meetings, debates, quizzes and theatre performances, while the final day will be dedicated to the Civic Festival Concert.
During the meeting, entertainment industry stakeholders welcomed the initiative and presented suggestions on how the Ministry and the industry could strengthen their collaboration, promote the festival and ensure meaningful participation.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to working with the Ministry towards the successful delivery of the event.
The engagement ended with a shared commitment to deepen cooperation between the Ministry and entertainment industry stakeholders in the planning and execution of the 2026 Civic Festival.
