Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara (JFK), an APC flagbearer aspirant, has formally called for the resignation of President Julius Maada Bio. The demand follows the President's recent remarks at a Makeni Town Hall meeting regarding challenges faced during his tenure overseeing the energy sector.

JFK argued that the President’s public admission of difficulties in managing a single ministry raises fundamental questions about his capacity to lead the nation.

“By publicly highlighting these struggles, the President has invited scrutiny into his overall ability to manage national affairs,” Kamara stated.

Emphasizing the need for accountability, Kamara questioned the logic of national leadership under such circumstances, asking, “If you cannot successfully manage a ministry, how can you manage a country?”

The President’s Town Hall reflections focused on the systemic challenges within Sierra Leone’s energy infrastructure and the ongoing efforts to stabilize the electricity supply.

However, JFK maintains that in a robust democracy, such acknowledgments of departmental failure necessitate political consequences and a reassessment of leadership performance.

The exchange has intensified the national debate concerning governance and energy security in Sierra Leone. At the time of reporting, the Presidency has not issued a formal response to Kamara’s statements.
