Kenema Magistrate Commits Two Defendants to High Court for Serious Charges


Magistrate Wilbri Hamida M. John of Magistrate Court No. 2 in Kenema has committed two defendants, Ganawa Sesay and Tamba Kamara, to the High Court for trial. Sesay faces charges of Larceny of a Dwelling House, while Kamara is charged with Robbery with Violence.


Mr. Ganawa Sesay, residing in Pujehun Section, Kenema, is accused of Larceny Dwelling House, an offense contrary to Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section 2 of Act No. 16 of 1971. Specifically, on Wednesday, July 22, 2025, at Ngombu Layout in Kenema City, Mr. Sesay allegedly entered the dwelling of Bishop Sahr Philie and stole a black registered Star motorbike, valued at Twenty-Four Thousand New Leones (NLe 24,000.00), belonging to Tamba Prince Kandeh. No plea was entered, and the defendant was committed for High Court trial.




Mr. Tamba Kamara, also known as "Planet," of Loko Town Section, Kenema, is charged with Robbery with Violence. The incident reportedl

y occurred on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Kpetema Section in Kenema. Mr. Kamara allegedly robbed Kadiatu Kanneh of an Itel manual button phone, valued at Five Hundred New Leones (NLe 500.00), and immediately before or after the robbery, allegedly used physical violence against Ms. Kanneh. Similar to Mr. Sesay, no plea was taken, and Mr. Kamara was committed to the High Court for trial.


In her ruling, Magistrate John determined that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to warrant the trial of both defendants. Consequently, they have been committed to stand trial at the High Court.


Both cases are being prosecuted by Woman Police Sergeant Bakarr Watta, who is attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department of the Kenema Police Division.
