The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has received 79 applications for the vacant head coach position of the national team, Leone Stars.

The pool of candidates is dominated by international professionals, though it also includes three local coaches, signaling high global interest in the role.

SLFA Head of Media Ibrahim Kamara, speaking via Liberty Online TV, highlighted the pedigree of the applicants. He noted that several candidates possess professional backgrounds linked to elite European football environments, including experience associated with Manchester United.

While the recruitment process has garnered significant public attention, the SLFA has opted to keep the identities of the applicants confidential during the initial vetting phase.

"I cannot disclose names for now," Kamara stated, emphasizing that the technical committee is currently engaged in a rigorous screening and assessment period.

To ensure a transparent selection process, the association intends to publish a shortlist of qualified candidates in the coming days.

"The shortlisted candidates will be published, and the public will receive that information within a couple of days," Kamara added.

The SLFA is expected to finalize its preliminary evaluations shortly as it moves toward the official appointment of a new head coach to lead the Leone Stars.
