Leone Stars Secure Pre-Qualifier Win, Conclude Home Preparations

The Leone Stars concluded their domestic technical test matches on a high note on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Leone Rock Premier League runners-up Bhantal FC at the Approved School Playing Field.
The decisive goal of the encounter arrived in the second half, marking Leone Stars' first win in the two-match friendly series.
This followed a 2-0 defeat to reigning league champions East End Lions on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Both Leone Stars and Bhantal FC received Le5,000 each and an additional Le10,000 to winner of the day, Leone Stars.
These two friendlies were strategically designed to fine-tune the team's readiness ahead of the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Sierra Leone is set to kick off their qualifying campaign with an away fixture against Guinea-Bissau on September 4, before heading to Liberia to face Ethiopia on September 9, 2025.
With their local preparations now complete, the selected home-based players will seamlessly integrate with their foreign-based counterparts to form the final formidable squad that will proudly represent Sierra Leone in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
