The three-day conference, which began on Thursday, July 2, 2026, and runs until July 4, has brought together tourism ministers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders from across the continent to explore strategies for strengthening Africa’s tourism sector.

The opening ceremony featured official remarks and presentations underscoring the importance of collaboration among African countries, as well as the need for sustained investment in human capital to drive tourism growth and competitiveness.

Speakers at the event emphasised that skills development, capacity building, and innovation remain central to unlocking Africa’s tourism potential

in an increasingly competitive global industry.

Following the opening session, delegates toured an exhibition showcasing Seychelles’ locally made products, cultural heritage, and creative industries. The display highlighted the country’s approach to promoting tourism through local enterprise development and cultural preservation.

The conference is expected to provide a platform for African countries to deepen partnerships, exchange best practices, and develop coordinated strategies to boost tourism growth across the continent.

Officials say discussions will focus on strengthening skills development, enhancing regional cooperation, and building a more resilient and competitive tourism sector in Africa.
