The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Southern Regional Office in Bo, has expressed deep concern over the alleged murder of Sub-Inspector Magdalene Fatu Conteh, a medical officer at the Police Hospital, Bo East Division.
Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased was allegedly stabbed by her 16-year-old grandson, Shadrach David Sam, at her residence in C-Line, New Police Barracks, Bo. Early information suggests the victim may have remained in the house for approximately three days before being discovered.
During this period, the suspect reportedly told neighbors and relatives that the victim had traveled to Pujehun for a workshop, delaying any checks on her welfare.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Ministry stated that it will closely monitor developments, ensuring all relevant information is properly assessed.
The Ministry confirmed that psychosocial support will be provided to the victim’s family, recognizing the trauma caused by such incidents. Further engagement will follow once official details are released by the Sierra Leone Police.
In a statement, the Ministry extended its deepest condolences to the family, colleagues, and all affected, reaffirming its commitment to providing support and ensuring justice as the investigation continues.
