Swedish professional football club IFK Värnamo has officially confirmed the acquisition of Mohamed Kamara, a highly-regarded midfielder from Sierra Leonean side AIK Freetown.
The 18-year-old athlete successfully finalized the transfer following a comprehensive trial period. During this time, his performances in first-team training sessions and competitive friendly fixtures demonstrated the technical proficiency and long-term potential required by the club’s scouting and coaching staff.
Club official Jörgen Petersson noted that IFK Värnamo’s recruitment department had been monitoring Kamara’s development since early 2025. Although an invitation for trials was extended later that year, the finalization of the move was momentarily deferred to accommodate the player’s international obligations with the Sierra Leone national team during World Cup qualification fixtures.
Kamara has committed to a five-year contract, signaling the club’s dedication to his professional growth. Characterized by his exceptional composure in the midfield, rigorous work ethic, and tactical ability to dictate the tempo of play, he is anticipated to be a significant addition to the senior squad.
Pending the standard administrative approval of his work permit, Kamara is projected to be available for selection in Värnamo’s Superettan season opener against IFK Norrköping on April 4.
This transition represents a milestone in the young midfielder’s career as he advances into the European professional football landscape.
