MTHE Harmonises University Graduation Ceremonies

Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) recently met with leadership from public and private universities to establish unified guidelines for upcoming graduation ceremonies. They seek to improve event management and foster stronger inter-university coordination ahead of the graduation season.
The consultative meeting gathered Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors, Principals, Registrars, Finance Directors, and Marshals. Delegates evaluated past commencement events to identify strategies for enhancing order, efficiency, and overall dignity for graduating students, their families, and academic staff.
Ministry officials commended the Conference of Vice-Chancellors and Principals for convening the session. They emphasized that shared dialogue among institutional leaders is vital to resolving common operational challenges and elevating standards across Sierra Leone's higher education sector.
Reaffirming the importance of commencement as a milestone celebrating academic perseverance, MTHE pledged continued backing for collaborative governance to build a more responsive and unified tertiary system.
