Official spokesperson for Alhaji Musa Tarawally, Boima J.V. Boima, has said Tarawally and his team will return to Freetown despite reports of a possible arrest linked to the ongoing political dispute between Tarawally and the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

Speaking on Liberty Online TV, Boima said their return to Sierra Leone is imminent, insisting that neither he nor Tarawally is hiding from the authorities.

He explained that Tarawally is currently occupied with business commitments but will return shortly, after which they will travel to Freetown together.

The statement comes amid an escalating dispute over Tarawally’s political status and his continued presentation of himself as an SLPP member and potential flagbearer aspirant.

The matter has also reached the police. SLPP Publicity Secretary Moses Mambu previously said the party had submitted a video and other statements involving Tarawally and another individual to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), with some of the material potentially relating to cyberbullying. Mambu said efforts were being made to obtain a magistrate’s warrant.

Boima, however, maintained that Tarawally has committed no crime and dismissed suggestions that he is afraid to return. He said Tarawally spoke publicly after believing his rights within the SLPP had been violated, claiming that he had also privately contacted President Julius Maada Bio before going public but received no response.

Boima defended Tarawally’s relationship with President Bio, saying the former presidential candidate respects him personally and as SLPP leader. He said Tarawally’s comments were not intended to disrespect the President but to highlight their shared political journey and his continued loyalty.

He added that Tarawally’s legal team is prepared to defend him should any legal proceedings arise, while describing the Sierra Leone Police as a reputable institution that should handle any complaint through established procedures.

The dispute continues to centre on Tarawally’s SLPP membership, his political standing and his reported interest in the party’s future flagbearership. His lawyers have also challenged an SLPP public notice concerning his status and demanded its withdrawal.
