NASSIT Launches Retirement Readiness Drive in Kono

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has officially launched a nationwide retirement readiness sensitisation exercise in Kono District under its flagship Project 54+ initiative, targeting members aged 54 and above.
The outreach campaign aims to educate workers approaching retirement on their statutory rights, scheme obligations, and the necessary procedures for seamless access to retirement benefits. Officials emphasize that early preparation is key to ensuring financial security for retirees across Sierra Leone.
Through interactive sessions, participants are being guided on benefit claims, documentation requirements, and proactive steps needed prior to exiting active employment service.
The initiative marks a significant step in NASSIT’s strategy to enhance member communication and ease the transition from active work to retirement.
Project 54+ specifically addresses the needs of senior workers by clarifying benefit calculation rules and administrative pathways well before formal retirement dates arrive.
Following the initial phase in Kono, NASSIT plans to roll out the sensitisation sessions across all remaining districts nationwide.
