New Police Leadership Takes Charge in Kenema and Kailahun

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Eastern Regional Command has welcomed new Local Unit Commanders for the Kenema and Kailahun Divisions following recent transfers.

The transfers form part of the SLP’s routine administrative deployments aimed at strengthening efficiency, command and control across the Force.

CSP Osman Ibrahim Kamara has assumed duty as the new Local Unit Commander of the Kenema Division, taking over from CSP Emmanuel Kpulun, while Superintendent Edward K. A. Sesay has been posted to the Kailahun Division as Local Unit Commander, replacing Superintendent Tialu Sesay.

During their respective tenures, the outgoing commanders, CSP Emmanuel Kpulun and Superintendent Tialu Sesay, were described as positive, accessible and community-oriented leaders. Their leadership, professionalism and engagement with stakeholders contributed to maintaining public confidence and strengthening police-community relations in Kenema and Kailahun.

Their departure is expected to be felt by the communities they served as they move on to their new responsibilities.

Meanwhile, in his welcome address following his assumption of duty, the new Kenema Local Unit Commander, CSP Osman I. Kamara, called for greater coordination, teamwork and collective responsibility among police officers and other stakeholders.

He emphasised that effective policing requires the combined efforts of the police, communities and partners, while expressing his readiness to work with all sectors to consolidate peace, security and public safety within the Kenema Division.

The arrival of the new commanders marks another phase in the Eastern Regional Command’s efforts to promote effective leadership, professional policing and responsive service delivery as the Sierra Leone Police continues to strengthen its presence and partnerships with the communities it serves.
