Sierra Leone's transport sector sees new point-to-point fares taking effect today, Friday, July 25, 2025, following a recent drop in fuel prices.
With petrol, diesel, and kerosene now priced at NLe25.00 per litre, down from NLe27.30, oil marketers pre-empted government action by independently reducing their prices.
This proactive move has paved the way for the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, in collaboration with the Motor Drivers Union and other key stakeholders, to implement calculated adjustments to fares.
These reductions apply to various transportation services, including vehicles operating across Freetown and the entire country, as well as sea transport.
The public is advised to note these new rates for their travel planning.
