NPRA Explores Strategic Petroleum Operations with Ghanaian Counterpart

The National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA) of Sierra Leone has conducted a successful exploratory engagement in Ghana with the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), aimed at studying strategic models of operation.


The visit was designed to give NPRA a deep dive into NPA’s regulatory frameworks and sound petroleum delivery systems, which could be implemented in Sierra Leone’s petroleum industry. The focus is on improving technical advancements, public policies, and effective human resource management.


Leading the delegation, Madam Wuyata Deen Swarray, Director of Policy and Planning Development at NPRA, noted that NPA’s management shared a broad spectrum of key regulatory policies that have positioned Ghana’s petroleum industry as one of the most efficient in the sub-region.

Madam Swarray said NPRA has steadily adopted international best practices over the past two years to drive growth and stability. She emphasized that NPRA remains open to reforms and foreign expertise that can create a conducive environment for domestic and foreign investors and end-users in Sierra Leone’s downstream petroleum sector.


Welcoming the delegation, NPA CEO Godwin Kudzo Tamelko Esq. commended NPRA for leveraging Ghana’s strategic framework policies, calling it a testament to the progress and effectiveness of Ghana’s petroleum authority.


He encouraged the Sierra Leonean delegation to adopt international best practices and implement policies that have the potential to expand development and strengthen Africa’s energy sector.
