NSA Director Attributes Mohamed Kallon’s Dismissal to Internal SLFA Political Factions

Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has characterized the dismissal of Leone Stars Head Coach Mohamed Kallon as a consequence of entrenched political divisions within the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

In an interview on AYV’s "Wake Up Sierra Leone," Dr. Abdulai stated that the friction between Mr. Kallon and the SLFA leadership originates from previous internal elections. He highlighted that Kallon supported an opposing candidate against the eventual victor, current SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima (Babadi Kamara).

"The political disagreements stemming from the SLFA's past election created a situation where Mohamed Kallon and the current leadership remained misaligned," Dr. Abdulai remarked, suggesting that the divide made a productive working relationship difficult.

Dr. Abdulai further observed that the relationship had been strained for an extended period, noting that a simple reinstatement would likely fail to address the core issues. He warned that the complexities involved exceed public knowledge and cautioned that the situation requires careful management to avoid further institutional complications.

"There have always been underlying tensions; we should not obscure the fact that the SLFA and Mohamed Kallon faced significant collaborative hurdles," he asserted.

Finally, the Executive Director clarified that the NSA was not involved in the termination process, affirming that the SLFA cited administrative grounds for the decision. He reiterated that such matters fall strictly within the SLFA’s jurisdiction and questioned the attempts to implicate the NSA in the association's internal staffing decisions.
