Parliament Confirms 15 Presidential Nominees

Parliament has approved 15 presidential nominees to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across Sierra Leone, following a thorough vetting process by the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service, chaired by Majority Leader Hon. Sahr Mathew Nyuma.
The nominees were interviewed under oath, with evaluation of their professional experience, track records, tax compliance, asset declarations, and vision. The Committee submitted a unanimous recommendation.
Approved nominees include:
Justice Masiyambay Bangura – Chairman, Legal Aid Board
Ing. Tideni Hawa Jabbi – Managing Director, SALWACO
Mr. Festus Kallay – Director General, EWRC
Miss Margaret Martha Kaitibie – Member, NPRA
Madam Sidnella Sallay Nawie and Mr. Bashiru Bah – Members, National Youth Commission
Mr. Mohamed Tejan Kellah – Chairman, Sierra Leone Railway Development and Regulatory Authority
Mr. Josiah Paris – Member, SLRA
Mrs. Josephine Anselma Metzger – Member, Board of Directors, Sierra Leone Airports Authority
Mr. Ibrahim Sawanneh – Member, Civil Aviation Authority Board
Ing. Mariwan Kallon – Managing Director, Guma Valley Water Company
Mr. Victor Vandy and Mr. Charles Lahai – Members, NPRA
Lansana Koroma – Member, National Youth Commission
Ing. Pierre Palmer – Director General, National Water Resources Management Agency
During parliamentary debates, MPs emphasized the importance of these appointments in delivering essential services such as water, electricity, legal aid, and infrastructure. Water sector nominees like Festus Kallay and Ing.
Mariwan Kallon were tasked with addressing distribution, quality, and affordability issues.
Justice Masiyambay Bangura was urged to expand legal aid services, while other nominees were called on to strengthen regulatory frameworks, enhance road and railway infrastructure, and improve airport and civil aviation management.
Hon. Nyuma highlighted the government’s commitment to clean water and energy distribution, citing Guma Valley Water Company’s filtration system and recent low inflation as evidence of development progress.
