The Regional Police Commander, East, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Francis Brima Meinday, held a strategic consultative meeting on Friday, February 20, 2026, with District and Regional Executives of the Conference of Principals for Secondary Schools (CPSS) in Kenema City. The engagement focused on strengthening school safety and coordination protocols.

AIG Meinday expressed significant concern regarding the escalating trend of unregulated and unauthorized student activities, specifically referencing rampant jogging, public drills, and mass student movements across the city. Consequently, he directed the CPSS executives to disseminate a clear directive to all school authorities within the district and the wider region, emphasizing the mandatory regulation of such activities to mitigate potential security risks and prevent public disorder.

Furthermore, the Regional Commander inquired about the status of the 2025/2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) entry process. In response, Mr. Swahibu S. Dauda, the Regional Secretary-General of the CPSS, reported steady progress, affirming that school heads are collaborating effectively with the Ministry of Education, with the registration expected to conclude within the next seven days.

Complementing this, the Local Unit Commander of Kenema Division, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Kpulun, assured stakeholders of the Police's proactive commitment to addressing the issues raised. He announced that the Community Relations Department will spearhead a comprehensive school-to-school sensitization campaign, commencing on Monday, February 23, 2026.

This outreach is designed to promote discipline, improve coordination, and foster sustained collaboration between secondary schools and the Sierra Leone Police within the Kenema Division.
