Police Intensify ‘Operation Safe Street’ in Kenema - Several Arrested in Blama Raid

The Sierra Leone Police have continued their nationwide anti-narcotics campaign with the second day of Operation Safe Street in the Kenema Division.


The operation was led by the Regional Police Commander East, AIG Francis Brima Meinday, who provided overall strategic direction and supervision, ensuring that activities were conducted in line with operational standards and the objectives of the ongoing crackdown on illicit drugs.

Supporting the regional command, the Local Unit Commander (LUC) for Kenema Division, Chief Superintendent Bob Musa Mansaray, coordinated field deployments, oversaw tactical units, and ensured close collaboration between specialized teams and local personnel.


The Operations Officer, Inspector Mohamed Conteh, managed briefings and real-time coordination of movement and communication among the ground teams, ensuring that the exercise proceeded safely and efficiently.

During the day’s operation, the joint team conducted a targeted raid at a strategic location in Blama, identified through intelligence as a suspected narcotics distribution point. The raid led to several arrests and the seizure of key exhibits believed to be connected to the illegal drug trade.

All suspects are currently in police custody, and the exhibits have been properly documented for further investigation. The police have announced that detailed statistics and updates will be released at the conclusion of the ongoing exercise.
