President Bio Affirms Lungi Bridge as Priority Despite Absence from Manifesto

President Julius Maada Bio has clarified that while the Lungi Bridge project was not included in his campaign manifesto, his administration is actively working toward its implementation.

During a recent public engagement, the President noted that the bridge represents an additional developmental objective beyond his initial formal commitments.

"I never promised the Lungi Bridge in my manifesto, but it is a bonus project I am currently pursuing," he stated.

President Bio further explained that other ongoing initiatives, such as public transport expansion and school feeding programs, were also supplemental to the original manifesto.

He reiterated that human capital development remains the government's primary focus, with sustained investment in health, education, and food security.

"Our administration prioritizes human capital. Investing in health, education, and food security is essential for Sierra Leone's independence and progress," he added.

The President emphasized that while infrastructure is significant, the welfare and development of citizens remains the immediate priority.

These efforts indicate a commitment to national growth that extends beyond campaign promises, focusing on long-term improvements to living standards.

The Lungi Bridge is intended to provide a permanent transport link between Freetown and the Lungi Peninsula, though the project remains in the planning stages.
