President Bio Arrives in Antigua and Barbuda for CHOGM 2026

President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio have arrived in Antigua and Barbuda from Senegal to participate in the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2026), which brings together leaders from across the Commonwealth to discuss shared priorities and strengthen international cooperation.
The meeting is being held under the theme, “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth,” with discussions expected to focus on collaboration, investment, economic growth and sustainable development among member countries.
Ahead of the official opening of the summit, President Bio participated in an engagement with chief executive officers (CEOs) attending the meeting. Discussions centred on strengthening partnerships and expanding investment opportunities across Commonwealth countries.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for government leaders and business executives to exchange views on the role of private-sector investment in promoting economic development and building stronger partnerships across member states.
President Bio’s participation in the summit forms part of Sierra Leone’s continued engagement with the Commonwealth, as leaders seek to deepen diplomatic relations, advance shared development priorities and explore practical solutions to challenges facing member countries.
The 28th CHOGM in Antigua and Barbuda is expected to provide a platform for Commonwealth leaders to deliberate on key global and regional issues while identifying opportunities to accelerate partnerships and promote a more prosperous and sustainable future.
