President Julius Maada Bio has designated 2026 as a "Year of Action," signaling a decisive shift toward tangible results focused on enhancing public services, fostering job creation, and stimulating economic growth. In his New Year's address, the President underscored his administration's guiding principles: candid assessment of challenges, meticulous stewardship of public resources, and unwavering respect for the rule of law.

Acknowledging global economic headwinds, President Bio emphasized that while Sierra Leone faces pressures such as high living costs, the nation is proactively managing its trajectory. He affirmed that this year's progress will be measured by concrete metrics: the efficiency of public services, the affordability of food, the expansion of employment opportunities, and the government's responsiveness to citizens' needs.

Economically, the President pledged disciplined fiscal management, vowing to "live within our means" and prioritize responsible, open use of public funds. A cornerstone of the growth strategy is the "Feed Salone" program, which will be expanded to support farmers with improved inputs, logistics, and market access, simultaneously creating agribusiness opportunities for the youth.

The President urged national unity and patience, positioning 2026 as a pivotal year where sustained national effort will begin to yield clear, visible improvements.
