Two-Month Extension: CMO Kabba Pushes for Faster Pujehun Hospital Completion

Chief Medical Officer Dr Mustapha Sundifu Kabba has called for an increase in the workforce and an acceleration of construction work on the ongoing 100-bed hospital project in Pujehun District, following a revision of its completion deadline from October to December 2026.

Dr Kabba made the call during an inspection of the construction site along the Benga–Samalen Highway on 31 October, accompanied by the IHPAU Team Lead, the Pujehun District Medical Officer and other Ministry of Health officials.

During the visit, the delegation assessed the project’s progress and received updates from the contractor on completed and outstanding works.

IHPAU Team Lead Alpha Umaru Jalloh explained that the project, which was initially scheduled for completion in October, had been extended to December to allow the contractor to complete outstanding activities, including ceiling installation, tiling and perimeter fencing.

Dr Kabba subsequently stressed the need for the contractor to deploy additional workers and accelerate construction, particularly the remaining electrical installations and ceiling works, to ensure the project meets the revised deadline.

Once completed, the 100-bed facility is expected to serve as a subspecialty referral hospital, expanding access to specialised healthcare services and strengthening referral capacity in Pujehun District and surrounding communities.
