Referee Suspended as SLFA Investigates Match Integrity Allegations

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), through its Referees Committee, has suspended a referee and launched an integrity investigation following a petition submitted by Star Sport Academy FC.

According to a press release issued on Sunday, April 13, 2026, the Committee has reviewed evidence, including voice recordings and telephone records, linked to allegations of attempts by certain club officials to influence match officials, as well as reported acts of retaliation against referees.

The SLFA stated that such actions pose a serious threat to the integrity, neutrality, and credibility of football in Sierra Leone.

As an immediate measure, Referee Foday Momoh has been suspended indefinitely, pending full cooperation with the ongoing investigation. The Association said the decision is precautionary and aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the process.

The Referees Committee, in collaboration with the Leone Rock Premier League Board, is expected to conduct a full investigation into the matter. The SLFA added that any individual found culpable will face strict sanctions in line with FIFA and CAF regulations.

The Association also called on all stakeholders to cooperate fully as efforts continue to uphold the integrity of the game.
