Shoemaker Sent to High Court Over Le68k Burglary Charge
Anthony Sahr Koroma, a 21-year-old shoemaker, has been committed to stand trial at the High Court following allegations of housebreaking and the theft of property valued at over Le68,000.
Presiding Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah, sitting at the Pademba Road Court No. 1, determined that the prosecution presented sufficient evidence during the committal proceedings to warrant transferring the matter to the higher court due to the severity of the charges.
Koroma faces a single count of House Breaking and Larceny under Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916. According to court filings, the accused allegedly broke into the residence of Salamatu Mansaray on April 20, 2026, at Smith Drive in Leicester Village with intent to steal.
The stolen items, which include a 52-inch plasma television, an Apple computer, and various other personal belongings total an estimated value of Le68,000.
As the case remains in the preliminary committal phase, no formal plea was taken from the accused.
Prosecuting officer DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo led the Investigating Officer in testimony, formalizing key exhibits and evidence into the record.
Following submissions from both counsel, Magistrate Jah remanded Koroma to the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road, where he will remain in custody pending his appearance and trial date in the High Court of Sierra Leone.
