Sierra Leone’s U-17 Girls National Team has written history by clinching the maiden WAFU A U-17 Girls Tournament in Monrovia, Liberia.
The Young Queens sealed their triumph with a convincing 4–1 victory over host nation Liberia, who were reduced to ten players during the encounter. The result not only secured the championship but also highlighted Sierra Leone’s dominance and resilience throughout the competition.
This victory marks Sierra Leone’s first-ever regional title at the U-17 girls’ level a landmark achievement that underscores the country’s growing strength in women’s football.
The official crowning ceremony will take place on Saturday at the conclusion of the tournament.
The win has sparked nationwide celebrations among fans and football stakeholders, with hopes that this success will drive greater investment in grassroots and women’s football development across Sierra Leone.
