The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Electoral Appeals Committee has affirmed the results of the Ordinary Congress and elections held on August 2, 2025, dismissing challenges from presidential candidate Aminata Bangura, ex-officio candidate Musa K.D. Mahmood, and Freetonians SLIFA.
After a thorough review of all submissions, documents, and evidence, the Committee upheld Babadi Kamarawon's victory with 43 votes against Aminata Bangura's single vote, with one abstention.
The Committee rejected calls to nullify the elections, concluding that alleged irregularities did not materially influence the final outcome.
However, the Committee did express concerns regarding the election's convening process, the delayed release of the voter list, and notably, the forcible removal of SLIFA delegate Benjamin Gordon Esq.
This incident was strongly condemned by the Committee and has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Board (IPCB) for an independent investigation.
In a move to enhance transparency and fairness in future elections, the Committee has ordered the SLFA to implement new safeguards, including publishing the final delegate list at least 48 hours before voting, documenting leadership absences and the delegation of authority and establishing clear protocols to guarantee delegate safety and prevent intimidation.
The Committee stated that their decision is final, with allowance for appeal.
