SLFA Launches Probe Into Violence at FA Cup Quarter-Final

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has strongly condemned the violence that disrupted the Orange FA Cup 2026 quarter-final match between Star Sport Academy and East End Lions FC at the SLFA Academy Field.

In an official press release issued on Monday, 4 May, the Association described the scenes as “disturbing,” revealing that the match was abandoned in the 86th minute following unrest at the venue.

The SLFA stated that acts of indiscipline and lawlessness have no place in football, stressing that the sport is founded on respect, fair play, rules, and sportsmanship.

According to the Association, such incidents not only threaten the safety of players, officials, and supporters, but also damage the reputation of football in Sierra Leone.

The football governing body assured the public that a full investigation into the incident is already underway.

It further pledged that firm disciplinary measures would be taken against any individuals or groups found responsible, in line with the Association’s statutes and regulations.

The statement, signed by Ibrahim Kamara, Head of Media and Marketing, reaffirmed the SLFA’s commitment to maintaining discipline and safeguarding the integrity of the game nationwide.

The incident has since generated concern among football stakeholders, with many calling for stricter enforcement of matchday regulations and improved security measures to prevent future violence at football venues across the country.
