SLFA Launches Women's Football Strategy

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially launched the country’s first-ever Women’s Football Strategy, establishing a four-year framework to develop the sport from grassroots participation to international competition.
Unveiled on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, at the Freetown City Council Hall by SLFA President Babadi Kamara, the initiative is designed to expand opportunities for girls and women to play, develop their abilities, and compete at the highest levels. Kamara emphasized the necessity of working alongside partners and stakeholders to translate the plan into practical results.
The launch brought together key sports figures, including SLFA Second Vice President Prince Saquee, National Sports Authority Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh, SLFA General Secretary Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh, and Women’s Football Manager Elizabeth Kailey. FIFA representatives Thubaelihle Bridgette Sibanda and Tsholofelo Candy Setlhoko also attended, highlighting global support for women's football development in Sierra Leone.
In conjunction with the launch, the SLFA and FIFA initiated a three-day capacity-building workshop running from 28 to 30 October 2026, aimed at strengthening football administrators' capacity to support the strategy's successful implementation.
