The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has officially granted permission to the Liberation People’s Party (LPP) to conduct a series of political community meetings across Bo District and the Western Urban District from October 9 through October 11, 2026.

The authorization comes in response to a formal request submitted by the LPP leadership on October 6. Confirmation was detailed in an official correspondence issued by Police Headquarters in Freetown on October 8, addressed to LPP National Secretary General, Mrs. Thelma Moriba.

According to the sanctioned itinerary, party leadership will initiate outreach in Bo District on Friday, October 9, convening meetings in Selenga Chiefdom and Valunia Chiefdom. Activities in the Southern Province will continue on Saturday, October 10, at the Gaula Community Barray. The tour will conclude in the capital on Sunday, October 11, with a gathering at Casablanca Field near Aberdeen Road New Market in the Western Urban District.

While granting clearance, law enforcement authorities instituted strict operational boundaries. Police explicitly stated that approval is restricted solely to localized static meetings at the designated venues. Public processions, street rallies, organized jogging activities, and the deployment of party marshals remain strictly prohibited.

Police leadership underscored that all gatherings must strictly adhere to the provisions of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965 and the Road Traffic Regulation of 2007, warning against any disruption to public order or traffic flow.

To ensure compliance, high-ranking regional officers have been tasked with oversight. Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General Joseph Lahai; Acting Regional Police Commander Freetown West, ACP M. B. Kamara; and the Local Unit Commander for Congo Cross Division have all been directed to deploy personnel to monitor proceedings.

The conditional clearance allows the opposition party to proceed with its scheduled public engagements, provided all participants remain compliant with the security guidelines established by the Sierra Leone Police.
