SLPP Funded What APC Took Credit For, Says Myk Berewa

The Director of Communications in the Office of the President, Myk Berewa, has formally asserted that several infrastructure and development projects historically associated with the All People’s Congress (APC) were primarily financed through budgetary frameworks established by the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

In a recent public address, it was argued that major national initiatives, including various road construction projects, utilized financial allocations initiated during SLPP-led administrations. This perspective suggests that the fiscal foundation for these developments was laid by the ruling party prior to their execution.

The administration has underscored the SLPP's strategic focus on post-civil war reconstruction, specifically regarding the establishment of critical state institutions. These efforts included the formation of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) and the National Revenue Authority (NRA), as well as the comprehensive restructuring of the national police force.

Furthermore, significant investments were directed toward the expansion of healthcare facilities and educational infrastructure to ensure broader public access to essential services.

According to official reports, these institutional frameworks were designed to promote equitable social service delivery and enhance the governance capacity of the state. The administration maintains that these SLPP initiatives were fundamental to the nation's recovery and long-term stability.

The briefing concludes that while certain public works are often attributed to the opposition, the technical groundwork and funding mechanisms originated from SLPP policy. This highlights the party's consistent role in institutional strengthening and the rebuilding of the national social fabric.
