Kenema District has recorded a boost in grassroots political organisation and community engagement following a motorbike donation by Hon. Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba to local political leaders.
The donation, which was presented to members of the Young Generation Council, councillors, constituency chairmen, and constituency secretaries, is intended to improve mobility and coordination among grassroots leaders, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach communities across the district.
According to party officials, the intervention is expected to strengthen the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) grassroots structures by enhancing communication, mobilisation, and outreach at constituency and ward levels. The added mobility is also expected to support the effective dissemination of government programmes and policies within communities.
Community leaders in Kenema District noted that limited transportation has long hindered engagement with constituents, especially in rural areas. They believe the motorbikes will improve access, facilitate monitoring of local issues, and support service delivery initiatives.
Hon. Kabba, who has been active in youth and constituency development efforts in the Eastern Region, said the donation forms part of his commitment to empowering grassroots leadership and improving community-level participation in governance.
The donation comes amid ongoing efforts by political actors to strengthen party structures ahead of future electoral activities, with grassroots mobilisation remaining a key focus.
